Person hospitalized after fire breaks out at North Miami Beach apartment building


A person was hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment building in North Miami Beach on Monday, officials said.

The fire happened at the 7-story building at 16850 S. Glades Drive.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said crews found smoke and flames coming from a unit on the sixth floor.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and were able to bring it under control before checking to see if other units were damaged.

Officials said two patients were assessed including one who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No other details were immediately known.

Several people reportedly hurt in ‘mass casualty’ crash near Miami Gardens – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale


MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) – A chaotic weekend crash near Miami Gardens left several people injured.

Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the violent wreck in the area of Northwest 191st Street and 47th Avenue, at around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Cameras captured two cars with extensive damage, including a white Toyota Camry.

Although the crash, called a “mass casualty incident” by MDFR, happened on the border between Miami Gardens and Northwest Miami-Dade, the scene extended across several blocks, from Northwest 183rd Street to 191st Street, spanning both the county and the city’s jurisdictions.

The Miami Heat have already made the move of the offseason by acquiring Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in one of the biggest blockbuster deals of the decade. The move limits them financially and there are many holes on the roster at the moment due to the Heat having to part with Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakucionis in the trade. However, there are plenty of players out there on the trade market and in free agency who could be strong contributors for the Heat this coming season without having to spend a lot of money. In fact, a former Heat player is reportedly on the trade block.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Cleveland Cavaliers wing Max Strus is a name to keep an eye on in the trade market.
