MSC Group plans to open a new North American headquarters in downtown Miami for its cruise and cargo divisions.
MSC Cargo has been based in Miami-Dade for more than 25 years, according to the company. The company will add MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys when moving into a 130,000-square-foot office space. The space will bring together 250 employees serving the three brands.
Meanwhile, MSC is building a new four-story cruise terminal at PortMiami capable of accommodating 36,000 passenger movements per day and three ships at once. It is expected to open this year.
MSC, the largest cruise brand in Europe, has made a significant investment in the U.S. market. MSC Cruises began sailing cruises out of New York year-round last spring, and this winter is sailing five ships in the U.S., a high-water mark for the line.
And, MSC will begin sailing from Galveston in 2025 and is negotiating the construction of a terminal at the Texas port.
MSC Group launched its luxury cruise line, Explora Journeys, last year.
