2 arrested after men robbed of Rolex watches at gunpoint in Miami

MIAMI – Miami police arrested two men Monday who they said robbed two other men of their Rolex watches.

Gelbinson Daniel Lugo, 22, and Oneal Jose Uribe, 30, both of Miami, face armed robbery charges.

Uribe also faces an additional charge of carrying a concealed firearm.

According to the suspects’ arrest reports, the victims were getting into their vehicle just after 3 a.m. on April 7 when they were approached by three Hispanic men, who were armed with guns.

Police said the robbers demanded the victims’ Rolex watches.

When one victim resisted, one of the robbers struck him with their gun, police said.

According to the arrest reports, the trio ended up taking the other victim’s watch before they fled in a waiting vehicle.

Detectives later discovered that immediately prior to the robbery, the people in the “offending vehicle” had met up with Uribe, who was driving a 2018 white Porsche Macan.

Police said he then followed the vehicle to the scene of the robbery, where they waited for the victims.

“Both vehicles take up surveillance positions where the vehicle that the victims were getting into was visible to them,” Uribe’s arrest report stated. “The defendant can be seen leaving the scene in his vehicle along with the offending vehicle immediately following the robbery.”

According to Uribe’s arrest report, he was pulled over in the Porsche Monday and was wearing a Rolex that didn’t have a serial number on it. A gun was also located inside the vehicle, authorities said.

Police said Uribe waived his Miranda rights and identified himself in surveillance video shown to him by detectives. Police said he claimed that he purchased the Rolex from “someone in the street” for $6,000.

Police said Lugo also waived his rights and identified himself in the video.

As of Tuesday afternoon, both men were being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where their bonds had yet to be set.

Police did not immediately confirm whether they captured the third suspect in the case.

“It’s one of those substitutions you make to see if something happens, like it did tonight,” Martino said postmatch, freely admitting he had no intentions of even playing Campana once he subbed in fellow attacker Robert Taylor for Benjamin Cremaschi in the 56th minute.

But Campana, who’d gone over two months without scoring, made the most of his unexpected chance to secure a massive result for Miami and improve his 2024 stat line to 3g/1a in 441 minutes.

“It’s very important for players [like Campana] to be doing well,” Martino said. “It’s very important because if they’re not doing well, we can’t maintain what we’re doing with the players who’ll be with their national teams [over the summer].”

And yet those players, specifically the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, were held mostly ineffective by a D.C. United side seconds from taking a well-earned draw from South Florida.

“I think a 0-0 would’ve been a fair result” Martino admitted, praising the effort from Troy Lesesne’s squad.

However, Campana only needed one magical moment to put everything in the right place for league-leading Miami.

“When a team is on the right path, you can find a way to win. And it happened today,” Tata said. “Imagine there had been no concussion, [Campana] wouldn’t have entered the match.”

Police: Video shows driver of a stolen car in Miami-Dade jumping from expressway ramp

DORAL, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers released dash cam video of a recent police chase related to pending cases in Miami-Dade County court.

The 19-minute-long video shows Melina Logan’s reckless maneuvers in Miami-Dade while trying to get away from police officers in a stolen car.

Logan, 27, of North Carolina, was in a 2024 Honda Civic that the South Miami Honda dealership on South Dixie Highway had allowed her to test drive.

Logan was involved in hit-and-run crashes.

The high-speed chase affected drivers on the Palmetto Expressway.

Logan stopped near 25th Street. She jumped out of the damaged Honda Civic, ran, and dived into a pond in Doral. She was topless when police officers rescued her and arrested her on May 9.

County inmate records show Logan was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Saturday in Doral facing charges in two pending cases and five warrant cases.

In one of the pending cases, she is facing two counts of battery on a police officer and third-degree grand theft of a vehicle. In the other, she is facing charges of aggravated fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, leaving the scene of a crash, and resisting arrest.

The five warrant cases are for charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

Toxicology report to help solve mystery in Miami and Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two police departments and the medical examiner’s office were working together to figure out how a man died.

While a toxicology report was pending on Saturday, Local 10 News sources believe a body found in a wooded preserve area in western Miami-Dade was connected to a missing person’s case further east in Miami.

Miami-Dade and Miami police officers worked together on Wednesday north of Eighth Street and west of Southwest 137 Avenue when a Dade police dog found the body shortly after 1 p.m., in an early stage of decomposition.

According to detectives familiar with the search near the Tamiami Bike Trail area, the white man was 30 to 40 years old, he was only wearing sweatpants, he was “lying supine on the ground” — and his body did not show any signs of trauma.

Detectives involved in the city and county cases were waiting. On Thursday, the medical examiner, Dr. Nicholas Barna, decided he needed toxicology to determine the man’s cause of death.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
