Southern Maryland Series Drops Opener 9-2 – The Southern Maryland Chronicle

(9/9/2022, York, PA) The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs fell to the York Revolution on Friday evening.  The Blue Crabs performed even with the Revs throughout the primary 4 and one-half innings, however the Revs took management within the latter phases. 

Daryl Thompson, (L, 14-5) bought the beginning for the Blue Crabs tonight. Thompson pitched nicely throughout the primary 4 innings, permitting just one run.  He bumped into bother within the fifth and sixth, permitting three house runs.  Thompson finally pitched six innings, permitting 5 runs on 9 hits.  

The Revs bought the scoring began within the first inning.  With a runner on second, Telvin Nash roped a base hit into heart area, scoring Jhon Nunez, and giving York a 1-0 lead. 

Within the third inning, Southern Maryland tied the ballgame off of Deyvis Julian (W, 1-0). With Michael Baca on second, Jack Sundberg punched a single into heart, tying the sport at 1-1.  The Blue Crabs then took the lead within the fifth.  Zach Collier led off the inning with a double. With Collier on third, Ryan Haug hit a sac fly to heart, scoring Zach Collier, to place the Blue Crabs on prime 2-1.

The lead can be short-lived.  Within the backside of the fifth, Josue Herrera hit a two-run shot over the wall in proper, giving York the lead.  Within the sixth, Nellie Rodriguez and Melky Mesa hit back-to-back house runs, giving York a 5-2 edge. 

The Revs added a four-run seventh inning behind three hits and an error off of Connor Legislation.  Dalton Geekie pitched a scoreless inning within the eighth within the 9-2 loss 

The Blue Crabs can be again in motion tomorrow at 6:30 pm, with Eddie Butler getting the beginning.
