Monmouth County Man, MD Resident Die In I-95 Crash: State Police
OCEANPORT, NJ – An Oceanport man was one of two people killed in a crash that unfolded Thursday on I-95 in Maryland, authorities said.
Shortly after 6 p.m., Maryland State Patrol troopers were called to the crash scene along northbound I-95 at the 77.2 mile marker in Abingdon, Maryland State Police told Patch.
Witnesses told investigators a 2013 GMC Terrain SUV driven by Dennis English, 45, of Baltimore, was speeding when it lost control, crossed over two lanes and flipped over across the guardrail. He was the only person in the vehicle.

A Subaru Forester driven by John Mastropietro, 64, of Oceanport, New Jersey, was traveling northbound on I-95 in the second lane when it was hit head on by English’s GMC, state police said.
The Forester became airborne and overturned into the northbound lanes of I-95, state police said.

Mastropietro was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was pronounced dead. English was pronounced dead at the scene, CBS reported.
Two passengers traveling with Mastropietro – Denise Berlin, 60, and Jade Mastropietro, 26, both of Oceanport – were injured and taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for medical treatment, according to the Maryland State Police.
The cause and contributing factors involved in this crash remain under investigation.
All possible causes are being considered, including excessive speed and possible impairment, state police said.
