Former Maryland women’s basketball guard Jakia Brown-Turner signed a training camp contract with the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.

Hailing from Oxon Hill, Md., Brown-Turner returned to her home state for a graduate year after four seasons at NC State. As a starter for Maryland, she averaged 13.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, earning a selection to the All-Big Ten second team. It was her second all-conference honor, her first coming in 2021, when she was also an all-American honorable mention.

The 6-foot guard made a major impact with the Terps, leading the team in rebounds and finishing second in points. She tallied six double-doubles on the season.
