We experienced our coldest feeling morning in over several months this morning with many neighborhoods enduring wind-chills that dipped down into the 30s! Fortunately abundant sunshine this afternoon is helping boost temperatures to more comfortable levels. Expect highs to recover into the lower to middle 60s. The cool breeze that’s been around will continue to slowly relax.

Frost advisories have been issued for most of our viewing area from 2 AM until 10 AM Tuesday for the potential of the seasons first frost. The only exception is across our Eastern Shore counties where advisories have not been posted because overnight lows will be a touch warmer. If you have any sensitive plants or flowers still outside, you’ll want to either bring them inside this evening before bed or cover them up.

After temperatures in the 30s early Tuesday morning with patchy to widespread frost along the I-95 corridor and points north and west, we’ll quickly warm-up by late morning to near 60. Afternoon temperatures will come close to 70-degrees with bright & beautiful sunshine.

A major warm-up is the biggest story of this 7-day forecast. A massive and expansive area of strong high pressure will anchor itself to our south. This will allow unseasonably warm air to surge into the area Wednesday through next weekend. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will reach the mid to upper 70s. Even warmer air arrives Friday through part of next weekend. Combine the warmer air with sunshine, temperatures will likely soar into the 80s Friday and Saturday. It’s not out of the question a few record highs could be set Friday.

Sunday looks unseasonably warm as well. There is some uncertainty as to when a cold front will approach the area, so Sunday’s high temperatures are a bit uncertain. If the cold front moves a bit slower, we could easily end up in the 80s again. While there could be a stray shower Sunday, it’s the exception and not the rule. Most of the weekend looks great to be outside with the warmth and sunshine.

A change to a much cooler weather pattern happens next week. The first batch of cool to chilly air may arrive as early as Halloween (Tuesday) along with the chance of a few scattered showers. Even colder air is likely to move into the area by mid to late next week.
