Angela Alsobrooks, who is running to become Maryland’s first Black female senator, shared a story tonight about when she first met Kamala Harris. She recalled reading about Harris, then the San Francisco district attorney, in Essence magazine. Two days after Alsobrooks won her own election, she received a phone call saying, “It’s Kamala Harris calling to congratulate me.”
