Maryland Permanently Preserves 31 Working Farms – The BayNet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Board of Public Works authorised 31 new Maryland Agricultural Preservation Basis (MALPF) easements at their assembly on June 22.

These easements will completely protect an extra 3,682 acres of prime farmland in Anne Arundel, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico and Worcester counties for an funding of greater than $17 million.

“The farmland preserved by this program ensures these farms are protected and might proceed working as working farms,” stated Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder. “Luckily, Maryland has probably the most profitable agricultural land preservation packages within the nation.
