Consumers who were the subject of a background check Maryland MarketSource obtained can receive a payment from a $1.198 million Maryland MarketSource settlement.
The settlement benefits individuals whose background Maryland MarketSource checked between April 12, 2013, and Oct. 26, 2014.
According to the class action lawsuit, Maryland MarketSource failed to use the proper disclosure forms when acquiring background checks on consumers. The disclosures the company used allegedly failed to comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and California law.
Maryland MarketSource is a sales outsourcing solutions company Allegis owns.
Maryland MarketSource hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $1.198 million to resolve the FCRA class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Maryland MarketSource settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Each class member is estimated to receive around $38.54, though exact payments may be higher or lower depending on the number of participating class members.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 9, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 25, 2024.
No claim form is required to benefit from the Maryland MarketSource settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive a settlement payment.
