Maryland lacks plan to ensure access to abortion pill with ban poised to take effect

Within the wake of a week-old Texas courtroom determination invalidating FDA approval of mifepristone, also referred to as the “abortion capsule,” that’s set to take impact Friday, Maryland officers haven’t formulated a plan to protect entry to the drug.

Gov. Wes Moore’s press secretary, Carter Elliott, stated such a plan is coming “as quickly as attainable” and the administration is “exploring choices” similar to stockpiling mifepristone, which another states have completed. 

Within the meantime, the governor, a Democrat, “will proceed to do every thing in his energy to make sure that Maryland stays a protected haven for abortion and reproductive well being care entry, together with entry to mifepristone,” Elliott stated in an e-mail.
