Maryland Dept. of Agriculture expands Spotted Lanternfly quarantine zone

BALTIMORE — The Maryland Division of Agriculture (MDA) has expanded the Noticed Lanternfly quarantine zone, the MDA introduced Monday.

Residents dwelling in any of the listed counties are inspired to be vigilant of lanternflies, report sightings, and destroy them when discovered

“The noticed lanternfly continues to be a damaging invasive species that has negatively impacted agriculture operations all through the mid-Atlantic area,” MDA Secretary Kevin Atticks mentioned. The division continues to take steps to develop the quarantine zone out of an abundance of warning as we stay vigilant in controlling the unfold of this damaging insect.”

The Noticed Lanternfly quarantine is now energetic within the following counties:

  • Allegany County
  • Anne Arundel County
  • Baltimore County
  • Calvert County
  • Caroline County
  • Caroll County
  • Cecil County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County
  • Kent County
  • Montgomery County 
  • Prince George’s County
  • Queen Anne’s County
  • Talbot County 
  • Washington County 
  • Wicomoco County
  • Baltimore Metropolis
