Maryland Delegation Members Announce Over $12 Million for Firefighters in Western Maryland | U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland

Raskin and David Trone (all D-Md.) introduced $12,108,037.50 in federal funding for Maryland firefighters and first responders in Frederick, Allegany, and Washington Counties. The federal grants have been awarded as follows:

• $8,565,688.64 to Frederick County to rent full-time firefighters;

• $1,927,818.18 to Washington County to present new moveable radios for Fireplace & EMSdepartments throughout the County;
• $1,499,999.27 to The Nationwide Fallen Firefighters Basis, headquartered in Frederick County, for its hearth prevention and coaching applications;
• $97,142.85 to Borden Shaft Volunteer Fireplace Firm No. 1 in Allegany County for automobile extrication and rescue instruments; and
• $17,388.57 to the Neighborhood Volunteer Fireplace Firm, Inc. of District No. 12 in Washington County to buy a gear washer and dryer.

Funding is from the Division of Homeland Safety’s FY2021 Help to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, Fireplace Prevention and Security Grant (FPS) program, and Staffing for Sufficient Fireplace and Emergency Response (SAFER) awards. The applications are administered by the Division of Homeland Safety’s Federal Emergency Administration Company in cooperation with the U.S. Fireplace Administration.
