Maryland community college deletes job posting that sought ‘minority’ applicants

After Campus Reform contacted the group faculty, the job posting was taken down.

In an announcement to Fox Information Digital, a spokesperson for Montgomery Faculty mentioned that the wording used within the job posting didn’t replicate the faculty’s purpose of offering equal alternative to all workers and job candidates.

“Montgomery Faculty is dedicated to offering equal alternatives for all workers and job candidates. When hiring new workers, we search to draw a candidate pool that displays the wealthy range of the group and college students that we serve. The wording used within the current job posting for a college intern place didn’t precisely replicate this purpose,” the spokesperson mentioned.

Heritage Basis Senior Authorized Fellow Sarah Parshall Perry advised Campus Reform that the unique job posting is a violation of Maryland employment discrimination legislation, federal civil rights legislation, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

“The restriction of candidates to a federally-funded academic entity by their race is a violation of each federal civil rights legislation (Title VI of the Civil Rights Act), and Maryland employment discrimination legislation (§20-602, Annotated Code of Maryland), in addition to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act,” Perry mentioned.
