Harris has 21, North Carolina Central takes down Maryland-Eastern Shore 65-57


PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Ja’Darius Harris scored 21 points as North Carolina Central beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 65-57 on Saturday night.

Harris added eight rebounds for the Eagles (11-8, 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Po’Boigh King added 12 points while going 5 of 9 (2 for 4 from 3-point range), and they also had eight rebounds. Fred Cleveland Jr. was 3-of-15 shooting (3 for 10 from 3-point range) to finish with nine points.

Refreshing and dry weekend weather in Maryland

Plunging humidity levels and dry weather will be around through the rest of the workweek. Highs Thursday and Friday will top out in the upper 70s with a mixture of clouds and sunshine.

This-coming weekend is looking much drier and better for all outdoor plans across the Mid-Atlantic, compared to Memorial Day Weekend. The First Alert Forecast is mostly dry and seasonable on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

Plan on a mix of sun and clouds each day. Saturday and Sunday begin with temperatures in the 50s, followed by afternoons spent in the 70s. Humidity remains low, too.

The chance of rain increases a bit during the beginning of next workweek. The next chance of wetter wet arrives on Monday. Charter bus catches fire after tire blows out on Maryland interstate; Students evacuated


Traffic was snarled Wednesday morning along Interstate 70 in Washington County after a charter bus caught fire, the Maryland State Police (MSP) said.

Troopers responded to westbound I-70 at I-81 around 6:36 a.m. for the fire. MSP said the charter bus was traveling when a tire blew out.

The driver pulled over, but then the bus started to catch fire. The driver and students were evacuated off safely, and no one was injured.
