Halsey concert in Maryland canceled as storm floods venue, soaks crowd, fans hide in bathroom during tornado warning

Pop singer Halsey’s live performance in Maryland was canceled Wednesday evening as extreme storms rolled by the realm, flooded the venue and soaked followers ready within the stands.

The star’s live performance was initially delayed on the Merriweather Submit Pavilion in Columbia, an outside venue with partially lined seating, because of the climate, slated to renew at 9:30 p.m.

By 10 p.m., the venue tweeted the Halsey present was canceled “attributable to weather-related technical difficulties.”

Columbia was underneath tornado and flash flood warnings Wednesday night as thunderstorms rumbled by the area, and swathes of followers already on the venue had been left drenched.

Some followers had been seen in rain ponchos hiding out in a bathroom throughout twister warnings, others soaked by rain pouring through the ceiling close to the stage, and people sitting within the seats inundated by water gushing over the stairs and floor.

Movies posted on social media present rain falling through the ceiling over the packed crowd ready for the present, water overflowing into the live performance pit, and the pathway to the venue swamped with fast-running water.

Some crowd members chanted “rain or shine” demanding the present go on, referencing an earlier tweet from the venue, which mentioned: “only a heads up that the present remains to be occurring rain or shine!”

Halsey mentioned in an announcement round 11:30 p.m. she is “past disenchanted with the best way the venue dealt with all the pieces tonight.”

When the present was canceled, she tweeted, “Maryland I don’t even know what to say,” including, “proper now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I simply wish to know when/that you simply all get dwelling safely.” 

She defined she couldn’t have carried out as a result of it might have been unsafe for attendees if “individuals rushed the stage throughout or after the storm.”
