Former Maryland, NFL running back arrested: reports

Lance Ball, a former standout running back at Maryland who played in the NFL, was arrested Monday in Colorado, according to multiple reports.

The 37-year-old was reportedly taken in on charges of domestic violence, second degree assault and criminal mischief in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Police were reportedly called after an incident between Ball and a person, who was transported to the hospital, about golf.

No other details were provided.

Ball, a New Jersey native, was a second-team All-ACC pick for Maryland in 2005. He went on to sign with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted rookie free agent n 2008 and he spent time with the Indianapolis Colts that season, too. He spent time with the Tennessee Titans in 2009 before going to the Denver Broncos.

He was with Denver through the 2012 season.

Ball ran for 801 yards and two touchdowns on 192 carries, and also caught 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns across his career.
