Crash Kills Upper Marlboro Man, Woman Injured: State Police

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD — An Upper Marlboro man died when he lost control of his vehicle Saturday in Calvert County. A female passenger was injured and flown to a hospital, Maryland State Police said.

The driver, James Everett Patterson Jr., 56, of Upper Marlboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 48, also of Upper Marlboro, was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo for treatment.

Patterson was driving a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle southbound on Route 4, south of Westlake Boulevard in Prince Frederick. According to state police, the Chevrolet was southbound on Route 4 when it overturned about 2 p.m. Investigators believe the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies and personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration responded to the accident.
