Child Custody Dispute Sparks Stabbing At Odenton Subway Eatery: Police

ODENTON, MD — A man was stabbed outside a Subway restaurant during a child custody dispute Thursday afternoon in Odenton, police said.
Officers said the victim and the suspect were hospitalized after the fight at the Piney Orchard shopping center, also known as Piney Orchard Marketplace.

Authorities said the victim was stabbed in the torso and is in serious condition. Police expect him to survive.

The suspect sustained an unknown minor injury, officers said.

There is no threat to the public.
Authorities said they got the call around 12:47 p.m.
Police said the victim was at the Subway, located at 8765 Piney Orchard Parkway, with his girlfriend and her child.
Officers said the suspect, a former significant other of the girlfriend and the father of the child, arrived at the restaurant.
An argument broke out and the suspect tried to grab the child, authorities said.
Police said the victim intervened and a physical fight started with the suspect, leading the suspect to stab the victim.
Six police cars were blocking off the road when Patch arrived around 1:50 p.m. They left the area just before 3 p.m.
Subway was still closed as of 3:15 p.m. The surrounding businesses remained open.
Officers said they have not made any arrests.
Detectives are still investigating, so they have not filed any charges.
Trina Green was on her way to a nail appointment when she saw officers coming down Telegraph Road.
Green got to the nail salon, which neighbors Subway, and saw police cars blocking off the parking lot.
Green said she saw somebody handcuffed on the ground.
She also said she saw a boy outside crying.
“I could see that it was an active crime scene,” Green told Patch. “I hope everybody physically is okay.”
