An Anne Arundel County woman became an instant multimillionaire when the $30 Mega Money scratch-off ticket she purchased at an Upper Marlboro Dash In store yielded all winning numbers.

The woman, who was not identified by the Maryland Lottery, said she started scratching her ticket during her break at work, according to a Maryland Lottery news release.  When she saw that $50,000 prizes appeared 10 times in the first two lines, the woman, knowing she was on the verge of winning big, put her ticket away to avoid drawing attention.

“I had to take it home and scratched it later,” she said in the news release.

The woman, who lives in the southern part of Anne Arundel County, was correct — her ticket revealed 40 $50,000 prizes.

“It was a lot of $50,000 prizes and I just knew that I won $2,000,000,” the woman told Maryland Lottery officials. “I was shaken and crying.”

The woman, who works in finance, said she plans to put her winnings into the bank and make a down payment on a house, according to the release. The $2 million reward isn’t the woman’s first prize. She usually plays $5 instant tickets, but she’s been on a winning streak, even winning $100 on a scratch-off before purchasing her $30 Mega Money instant ticket.

The Dash In on Marlboro Pike in Prince George’s County will earn a $2,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Mega Money tickets went on sale in late April. The woman’s winning ticket is the first top prize winner. Four $2 million top prizes remain to be revealed, along with eight $50,000 second-tier prizes and smaller winnings ranging from $30 to $5,000.
