OU softball adds Louisiana pitcher Sam Landry via transfer portal
NORMAN — OU softball added another pitcher Saturday and it wasn’t NiJaree Canady.
The Sooners earned a commitment from former Louisiana right-hander Sam Landry, who announced her decision vis Instagram.
Landry is head coach Patty Gasso’s fifth transfer portal commit this offseason, filling OU’s final roster spot. Landry joins Campbell pitcher Isabella Smith, North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling, Utah outfielder Abby Dayton and BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani as Sooner portal commits.
Landry recorded a career-best 24 wins with a 2.09 ERA in 2024, while surrendering 26 extra base hits over 127 1/3 innings. Landry led Louisiana in strikeouts (165) and held opposing batters to a .219 batting average.
OU returns Kierston Deal who held a 14-1 record with a 1.97 ERA in 78 ⅓ innings last season.
