RUSTON, La. (KNOE) – A new bachelor program for registered nurses is being offered at Lousiana Tech University.

The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program was created to meet the needs of working nurses.

According to LA Tech, the program was designed to address the healthcare community’s changing needs and help students better understand advanced nursing concepts and practices.

“This program is answering the call from our students and our employers as we continue to prepare registered nurses to address the vast range of opportunities in health care,” said Associate Dean Dr. Donna Hood. “This program builds on over 50 years of excellence in nursing education in a supportive and innovative environment. Our graduates have the foundation they need to work as a valuable member of the healthcare team and continue their education at the graduate level.”

In a press release, the university said the program’s goal is to uplift the state and region amidst a significant nursing shortage.

The program offers a quick pathway to completing a BSN degree for former and current students with associate degrees or professional certifications in nursing.
