Louisiana Legislature passes ban on Russian imports – Louisiana Illuminator

The Louisiana Legislature handed laws to ban imports of pure assets from Russia, condemning its invasion of Ukraine.

Senate Invoice 196, sponsored by Sen. Stewart Cathey, R-Monroe, acquired a last Senate vote final week and awaits the signature of Gov. John Bel Edwards.

The prohibition would come with imports of oil, fuel, iron, metal, valuable metals and agricultural merchandise, although the legislation could be a largely symbolic gesture because the federal authorities has already restricted these imports.

The US and its allies in Europe and Asia proceed to impose unprecedented financial sanctions in opposition to Russia because it invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.
