La. state income tax filing begins Monday
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – People in Louisiana can start filing their individual state income tax returns on Monday, January 29, according to the Louisiana Department of Revenue.
Taxpayers can submit their returns by using commercially available tax preparation software, by getting help from a tax professional, with printed state returns, or through the state’s free web portal for individual tax filers.
The free web portal, known as Louisiana File Online, allows people to file returns and pay taxes electronically, make changes to current and prior-year tax returns, and check the status of income tax refunds.
Officials said that taxpayers who submit returns electronically can expect a refund within four weeks. For paper returns, a refund will take up to eight weeks to process.
The deadline to file 2023 Louisiana individual income tax returns is Wednesday, May 15.
