Fatal highway crash in Louisiana knocks out power to 2,000
PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) — Authorities say a person is lifeless after his truck crashed right into a utility pole on a Louisiana freeway.
Louisiana State Police say the single-vehicle wreck Friday night time shut down a stretch of state Freeway 73 in Ascension Parish and knocked out energy to almost 2,000 properties and companies.
Authorities recognized 35-year-old Jon Davies as the one that died when his pickup truck ran off the highway and slammed into the utility pole, WBRZ-TV reported. State police mentioned he wasn’t sporting a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.
Police are conducting toxicology exams to find out if the driving force was impaired by alcohol or medication.
