ESPN’s College Gameday crew tore into a king cake. Louisiana natives did not approve.
As ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast wrapped up Thursday before LSU’s blockbuster game against South Carolina, sideline reporter Holly Rowe brought a king cake for her colleagues to eat on set. They didn’t so much eat it; they massacred it.
Elle Duncan explained the history of the sacred Mardi Gras treat as analysts Andraya Carter and Carolyn Peck started digging into the king cake to find the baby.
“Where’s the baby?” they screamed.
The clip of them eating the king cake went viral, and the people of Louisiana did not react kindly on social media. The panelists didn’t cut it into pieces and eat with their fingers, as is typical. They ripped it apart, furiously scrambling in their search for the baby.
You destroyed that king cake, that’s sacrilegious down in these parts.
