Avoyelles Parish establishes ‘selfie spot’ in geographic center of Louisiana

AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB) – The Avoyelles Parish Commission of Tourism unveiled a new “selfie spot” in Mansura, at the geographic center of Louisiana.

The outdoor photo space allows visitors to capture memorable moments during their time in Louisiana.

“No one else can say they have this in their parish because geographically, this is the center of Louisiana,” said Wilbert Carmouche, director of tourism for Avoyelles parish.

Carmouche also says the kiosks are an excellent way to have visitors explore Avoyelles.

“What we’ve done is that we have found the center point of Louisiana, and we’ve put this kiosk here,” he said, “bringing you here, to the center of Louisiana.”

There are multiple locations where kiosks have been installed, directing visitors to the attraction at the center of Louisiana.

“Once you’re here,” said Carmouche, “scan this QR code and that will give you the website for travel Avoyelles that you can access and give you everything Avoyelles parish.”

The “selfie spot” is located on 1860 Old River Road in Mansura.
