Officials with Louisiana State Police say a woman walking down Louisiana Highway 104 near the fog line of the roadway was struck and killed early Saturday morning.

State Police Spokesperson Ross Brennan says 63-year-old Sharron Hampshire of Ville Platte was walking close to the fog line on the eastbound side of the roadway when the driver of a vehicle going in the same direction hit the woman.

Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brennan says impairment on the part of the driver was not suspected, but the person voluntarily gave a breath sample to officials. There was no alcohol present.
