UK fans react to recent Kentucky Baseball win, next steps
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – We’ve seen come rain or shine, Wildcats fans show up. And this Kentucky Baseball team is giving them a lot to root for.
“They’re advancing. And I know they’re playing at home now. That’s huge, huge advantage. We’re excited. All of my friends in the group chat are hype about it,” said fan Brady Corman.
The Wildcats defeated Indiana State Sunday in front of a packed house at Kentucky Proud Park. Now the team advances to the Super Regional. Where they’ll host Oregon State this weekend.
“We went last Friday to watch the Regional game. It was a really cool experience to see how excited the city of Lexington was getting for the team, and how excited they were for the post season run they’re making,” said another fan Will Cockrell.
Sunday night the team earned the program’s second-straight regional championship. Now they’ll do something they’ve never done before…host a super regional.
“I went to Transy, so it’s something I haven’t seen the last five years I’ve been in Lexington. Just how excited the campus, community, and really the whole city has gotten.”
Those we talked to on campus say whether or not they’re traditionally big baseball fans, they’re for sure going to be tuning in to cheer on their Cats this weekend.
“We’re finally in there as we should be. It’s exciting, it’s fun.”
“No matter what sport, I’m cheering on the Cats.”
As Kentucky heads to the Supers for the third time in seven years, fans have one final message for the team.
“Go Cats!”
The team will play beginning Friday or Saturday, the game times will be announced Tuesday.
