An Oklahoma fan threw a beer at Kentucky basketball players following the Wildcats’ 83-82 road win at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. on Wednesday.
Video taken of the incident shows a beer fly in from the crowd and nearly strike Brandon Garrison, an Oklahoma City native who played his first season at Oklahoma State last year. Here’s a look as the beer nearly strikes Garrison, courtesy of Adam Stratton of Kentucky Sports Radio:
The incident followed an exciting finish to the game, with Otega Oweh — an Oklahoma transfer — hitting the game-winning shot with 6.1 seconds remaining on the clock. The Sooners had a chance for the game-winner on the opposite end of the court, though Garrison blocked Jeremiah Fears’ shot in the game’s waning seconds.
Immediately following the block, Garrison can be seen getting into Fears’ face, with Sooners teammate Jalon Moore coming to his defense. Kentucky’s Amari Williams had to pull Garrison away from the Oklahoma players.
Oweh finished the game with a game-high 28 points on 12-of-21 shooting against his former team. He also had six rebounds, a steal and a block in the win. Garrison had 12 points off the bench, as well as four rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
No. 23 Kentucky (19-9, 8-7 in SEC play) will play its next game at No. 1 Auburn (26-2, 14-1) in Rupp Arena at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. Elsewhere, the Sooners (17-11) will travel to Ole Miss at for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Saturday.
