Officers to Be Remembered at Memorial This Week in Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Seven Kentucky regulation enforcement officers who died within the line of obligation final yr can be remembered throughout a ceremony this week.

Gov. Andy Beshear will be part of the Kentucky Regulation Enforcement Memorial Basis and the Division of Prison Justice Coaching for the ceremony Thursday. The occasion can be at 10 a.m. on the Kentucky Regulation Enforcement Memorial monument website at Japanese Kentucky College in Richmond, the Justice and Public Security Cupboard mentioned.

These being honored this yr are Louisville Metro Police Officers Hassan F. Hassan and Zachary D. Cottongim, Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Deputy Wagner L. Baskett Jr., Georgetown Police Lt. Gary W. Crump II, Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Brandon A. Shirley, Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Oliver Little and Graves County Deputy Jailer Robert T. Daniel.

5 others being honored this yr are Metcalfe County Deputy Sheriff Albert J. Franklin, who died in 1913; Pikeville Police Officer Alonzo Robinson, who died in 1929; Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Pennington, who died in 1933; Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Marion Layne, who died in 1939; and Campbell County Police Chief George T. Benz, who died in 1948.

The monument will maintain 570 names after this yr’s additions.
