Mark Stoops says there’s a “zero-percent chance” he retires after this season

As the Kentucky Wildcats look to end a lost season on a high note, Mark Stoops is making it clear that he’s not retiring.

During his Monday press conference, the UK head coach was asked about the possibility of retiring after the 2024 season ends.

Not happening.

“There is a zero percent chance I do that. Next question,” said Stoops.

You can’t really blame Stoops when he gets to collect $9 million and has a buyout that makes it virtually impossible to fire him anytime soon. It’s unfortunate the football program he’s built up is starting to trend backward. Still, unless something drastic happens, there’s no reason to expect Stoops to be coaching anywhere but Kentucky next season.

Let’s hope he can change the trajectory of this program back toward a more enjoyable product, something that’s rarely been seen this season.
