Kentucky Governor Beshear campaigns in Newport, AG Cameron in Frankfort
NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear made a stop Sunday in Northern Kentucky as he gathers support for his campaign.
The governor was in Newport highlighting his administration’s work creating new jobs and its economic investment in the commonwealth. He also talked about the Brent Spence Companion Bridge project.
“You know that Brence Spence Companion Bridge that we’re building? Oh yeah, without tolls. It’s not red or blue. it’s not Democrat or Republican. It’s good for every single family in this region,” he said.
Governor Beshear touted the legalization of medical marijuana and sports betting under his administration.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Daniel Cameron was on the campaign trail, too. Cameron won Kentucky’s Republican primary earlier this month.
In Frankfort on Saturday, Cameron blamed Governor Beshear for not standing up to the federal government on immigration. He says that’s led to more fentanyl on the streets in Kentucky.
“This governor has sat idly by and said nothing about the Joe Biden administration and their radical agenda, and how it’s affected Kentucky,” he said. “We are going to make Andy Beshear a one-term governor come this November!”
If he succeeds, Cameron would become the first Black Republican-elected governor in American history.
