Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Resources gathering summer turkey sightings data
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources are encouraging people to report their turkey sightings.
Anyone who sees a turkey anywhere in the state during July or August can fill out an online survey.
According to a KDFWR release, this data can help biologists monitor Kentucky’s turkey population.
“The turkey population is studied by department staff and graduate student researchers, but they can only cover a limited area of the state,” KDFWR Wild Turkey Program coordinator Zak Danks said. “Keen-eyed volunteers who report turkey sightings through this survey really expand our ability to monitor the flock.”
