Friday Headlines: Kentucky Baseball vs. South Carolina in the SEC Tournament

Published

on

Kentucky Baseball will take the field today against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

It’s the fourth day of the SEC Tournament, and the loser of today’s game will be eliminated from the competition, while the winner will play for the opportunity to face the 11th-seeded LSU Tigers (who beat Kentucky 11-0 earlier in the week).

If the Kentucky Wildcats want to advance in the tournament, they have to start by winning this afternoon’s game against the Gamecocks.

The bad news is the Wildcats lost their regular season series to South Carolina, 1-2, and were outscored 20-29. But the good news is Kentucky found their offense on Friday, scoring nine wins in their victory over 2nd-seeded Arkansas.

A win this afternoon puts Kentucky just one more game away from the SEC Championship game. They have proved all season that they’re one of the best teams in the country, so it shouldn’t come as a shock if they make it to Sunday. Kentucky will need to take it one game at a time, though, starting with taking care of business against South Carolina.

First pitch this afternoon is set for 4 PM ET with television coverage on the SEC Network.
