It wasn’t the walkover the toteboard instructed it might be, however Forte, the 1-5 favourite, overcame his poor submit place draw and subsequent extensive journey to run down Mage and win Saturday’s Grade 1, $1 million Florida Derby by a size at Gulfstream Park.
