Deone Walker declares for 2025 NFL Draft
One of the best to come through Lexington in the Mark Stoops era is officially off to the pros.
On Friday, news broke that Kentucky Wildcats defensive tackle Deone Walker had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Say it with me one last time…GO BIG BLUE,” Walker wrote in his announcement post.
The 6-foot-6, 345-pound product of Detroit (MI) is easily one of the best defenders to play at Kentucky in recent memory and one of the best overall players of the Stoops era.
Coming into the 2024 college football season, Walker was widely projected as a first-round pick, going as high as the top 10 in several projections. However, a so-so year for Walker has led to his stock dropping enough that many projections don’t even have him in the first round.
Even so, he’ll have a chance to get back into that first-round range with a good offseason of testing and interviews with NFL teams. I’d still bet on him hearing his name called fairly early in this year’s draft, even if it’s in the early second-round range.
Best of luck to Walker in the pros!
