61st Kentucky Ham Meal kicks off
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The Kentucky Ham Meal kicked off its 61st year of serving delicious homemade biscuits and fresh Kentucky ham.
The community comes out in droves to give money towards the fundraiser put on by the First Christian Church in Meridian.
Every dollar given this year will be going right back to local organizations. This meal includes eggs, grits, biscuits, and Kentucky ham, but also comes with a good time and friendly fellowship.
“We joined this church in 1989, and the first time that we came, I’ll just never forget what it was like, you know, for the Kentucky Ham meal. So and making biscuits. Last year, we served a little over 13,000 biscuits, and see, it seems like that, and plus, when the church gets together, it’s like they come together in a unified effort for a good cause with good food.”
If it is your first time going, there are a few things you can expect to receive.
“A warm welcome and a thank you. Have a seat. The meal is brought to you and coffee and extra biscuits and then a thank you when they leave because it is big. Every time somebody buys a ticket, they’re helping us help the charities in our in our county.”
Tickets are ten dollars, and the meal goes through Wednesday starting at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m.
If you don’t want to go inside to eat, they do have a drive-through.
