Vote to fill Georgia’s house seat during special election today

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Registered voters will be able to vote in the special election for District 125 on Tuesday, where all 15 precincts will be open.

This special election is for the Georgia house seat, vacated by Barry Fleming. He was appointed as a superior court judge by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

879 voted during the three weeks of advance voting and 28 of the 35 absentee by mail ballots have been received in Columbia County.

Registered voters in these precincts should be eligible to vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

020 – Harlem Branch Library

022 – Harlem Senior Center

024 – Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church

032 – Greater Augusta Apostolic Church

These candidates qualified for the election:

  • CJ Pearson – Republican
  • Gary Richardson – Republican
  • Jim Steed – Republican
  • Kay Turner – Democrat
  • John Turpish – Libertarian

This is NOT a countywide election.

A runoff, if needed, will be held March 12.

Voters should confirm their Election Day precinct as there have been several changes last year to the precincts.
