Louisville football has spent the first month of the 2024 season at home and benefited from it.

The 20th-ranked Cardinals pocketed wins over Austin Peay and Jacksonville State before their Week 3 bye. Today they begin the competitive part of their schedule, hosting Georgia Tech at L&N Stadium for their ACC opener. The Yellow Jackets already have a conference loss after falling to Syracuse on the road, 31-28. U of L will look to deal Georgia Tech a second conference loss and tie the overall series with a second straight win over the Yellow Jackets.

Louisville football injury news: Maurice Turner out

U of L will be without starting running back Maurice Turner as well as third-string linebacker TJ Capers against Georgia Tech.

During the Cardinals’ ACC opener against Georgia Tech, they’ll honor former wide receiver Harry Douglas’s jersey. The Florida native received a shout out on ESPN’s “College GameDay” as well, with reporter Harry Lyles, Jr., sporting Douglas’s No. 85 jersey.

Douglas is second all-time at U of L in receiving yards, totaling 2,924 during his time with the Cardinals (2004-07). He set the program’s single-game receiving record by racking up 223 yards in a 40-34 loss to Kentucky in 2007.

Douglas is one of two Cardinals to have their jersey honored this season. Former standout quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will be recognized during U of L’s game against Miami on Oct. 19.
