Georgia woman’s nonprofit pays hundreds of thousands in school lunch debt

A Forsyth County nonprofit gave greater than a hundred-thousand {dollars} to metro Atlanta faculties, so households wouldn’t go into the vacation season with excellent faculty lunch debt. The lady behind the group says that is just the start.

Alessandra Ferrera-Miller says not having ample lunch cash shouldn’t be an issue for households. She, like many, has heard the tales of scholars not getting their scorching lunches or having their lunches taken away as a result of their mother and father couldn’t pay.

In 2018, Ferrera-Miller began paying off space faculty lunch debt. She first began with 4 faculties, $500 at a time, and thought she had completed a lot.

This month, her nonprofit “All for Lunch” simply paid $130,000 to remove lunch money owed in a number of metro areas corresponding to Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, Forsyth and Barrow counties.
