ELECTION RESULTS: Multiple Georgia nominees decided by runoffs

FRANKLIN COUNTY, G.A. (FOX Carolina) – Multiple local primary races were decided Tuesday during Georgia’s primary election.

Below are some of the notable local races determined during Tuesday’s elections.

DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION FOR ELBERT COUNTY SHERIFF

Darren Scarborough took down DreKevious Gibbs for the Democratic nomination for Elbert County Sheriff on Tuesday. Scarborough will now face Republican nominee Jamie Callaway in November’s general election.

REPUBLICAN NOMINATION FOR FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF

Scott Andrews defeated Brian Stovall for the Republican nomination for Franklin County Sheriff on Tuesday. Currently, no candidates are challenging Andrews in November’s general election.

REPUBLICAN NOMINATIONS FOR FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSION POSITIONS

Multiple primary races for positions with the Franklin County Commission were decided Tuesday. Courtney Long beat Joe Greene for the Republican nomination for County Commission Chair, and Cory Pulliam defeated Sam Freeman for the Republican nomination for County Commission District 2.

Wanda Thompson and Tyler Owenby are facing off for the Republican nomination for County Commission District 1. However, the final results have not been determined yet.

Currently, no candidates are challenging any of the nominees in November’s general election.
