WATCH: Florida deputy jumps in river to arrest accused boat burglar
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A deputy of Volusia Sheriff’s Workplace’s marine unit jumped into the Halifax River over the weekend to arrest an alleged boat burglar refusing to come back to land.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Workplace stated the incident occurred Saturday morning because the sheriff’s workplace assisted the Daytona Seashore Police Division with getting the suspect out of the Halifax River.
Within the video, Deputy Freeburn arrives on the suspect’s location on a ship with regulation enforcement sirens on and may be heard telling the suspect to get out of the water.
“If I’ve to come back in there and get you, it isn’t going to be an excellent day, OK,” Freeburn stated. “What did I do?” the suspect tells the deputy. “Y’all are mad as a result of I am within the water swimming,” he added.
After a short backwards and forwards with the suspect, Freeburn jumps into the water and safely takes the person to shore.
