Northeast Florida residents take annual ‘polar plunge’ in Jacksonville Beach
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Northeast Florida residents will embrace the (relative) cold Monday morning for the annual Jan. 1 “polar plunge” in Jacksonville Beach.
It feels like 44 degrees at the beaches this morning, and the water temperature is about 59 degrees — which takes the “polar” out of the plunge a bit, but plenty of folks are still out for the fun.
The plunge, organized by the TriMadness Endurance Team, will begin at 9 a.m.
News4JAX will stream the polar plunge live. Press play above to watch.
The event was supposed to take place at the Seawalk Pavilion, but police activity on the beach has pushed it a block south to behind the Four Points by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront hotel.
