Iguana causes power outage in South Florida, officials say

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. – Iguanas are an invasive species in Florida, inflicting issues for the state’s surroundings, however one South Florida metropolis has felt the impacts of the reptiles extra instantly after one triggered a big energy outage.

In line with the town of Lake Price Seaside, an iguana triggered a large-scale outage Wednesday due to an iguana at a substation on sixth Avenue.

The town didn’t say precisely how the lizard triggered the outage. WPBF in West Palm Seaside studies that the iguana hit a transformer with its tail, inflicting the outage and killing the reptile.

As of Wednesday night, everyone seems to be again on the grid, in keeping with the utility firm’s outage map.
