Florida’s new congressional map under fire by voting rights groups

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Members of voting rights teams are suing to cease Florida’s new congressional map from going into impact.

They’re asking the state Supreme Courtroom to weigh in on whether or not the brand new map can go into impact in time for the mid-term elections.

Governor Ron DeSantis drew the brand new district strains.

A district choose initially blocked the map, ruling it will disenfranchise minority voters by breaking apart North-Central Florida congressman Al Lawson’s district.

An appeals court docket reversed the decrease court docket’s ruling, permitting the state to proceed with the brand new districts.
