Storm sends umbrellas flying into ocean off Bethany Beach, Delaware
BETHANY BEACH, Delaware (WPVI) — Seaside umbrellas in Bethany Seaside have been blown into the ocean as extreme climate swept coastal Delaware on Friday.
Dramatic footage exhibits beachgoers caught in heavy rain as umbrellas roll throughout the stormy surf.
Fortunately, nobody was injured.
The Nationwide Climate Service issued a number of climate warnings for coastal areas in Delaware on Friday.
“We’re nonetheless amassing a few of these umbrellas for them. We’re fishing them out of the water,” stated Joe Donnelly, Captain of Bethany Seaside Patrol. “Usually what we do right here on Bethany seashore is we ask of us, when you do not want your umbrella immediately, fold it down, or do not put it up altogether.”
Donnelly stated they sometimes strive to not prohibit individuals from utilizing umbrellas on the seashore except circumstances get severe sufficient that somebody may get injured.
“Should you go away to go to the restroom, lunch, fold down your umbrella or take it down altogether. If you must be below it, be shut sufficient to it, to hold on to if want be,” he stated.
