DOVER, Del. – The State of Delaware is teaming up with Donate Delaware to purchase 44,000 canisters of infant baby formula.

The FDA’s approved shipment will help increase the supply of the formula statewide, and this new initiative will also help ease the burden on families who have trouble accessing formula.

47 ABC News spoke with the Food Bank of Delaware’s Communication Director Kim Turner on why this is so crucial for the First State’s babies.

“Well, we know that proper nutrition is tied into the development of babies in order to live a nice healthy life you need to have access to nutritious foods,” Turner explained. “And even the little ones, we need to make sure that babies have the formula, the milk, the baby food.”

The canisters will be available at the Food Bank of Delaware and Boys and Girls clubs locations across the state. For a full list of locations and additional information, click here.
