Delaware man arrested after driving vehicle into ocean

A Delaware man was arrested and charged with driving underneath the affect (DUI) and extra site visitors violations after driving his car into the ocean.

The incident occurred at roughly 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, when Delaware Pure Assets Police State Park officers responded to Navy Seashore at Cape Henlopen State Park in Sussex County, DE, following a report of a water rescue in progress.

Witnesses contacted 911 after seeing a car drive into the surf. Bystanders entered the water rapidly, serving to the motive force exit the car and return to shore.

In a video posted to Delaware Surf Fishing’s Fb web page, the automotive could be seen being battered by waves because it floats within the ocean.

The driving force was recognized as 48-year-old Donald R. Quill Jr. of Newark, Delaware. 

In the course of the officers’ investigation, Quill was noticed to show indicators of impairment. He was then transported to Rehoboth Police Division for additional investigation, and was charged with DUI, a misdemeanor, and inattentive driving and working a motorcar on closed Delaware State Parks areas. 

Quill was video-arraigned at magistrate Court docket 2 in Rehoboth Seashore, DE. He was then dedicated to Sussex Correctional Establishment on $1,502 money bond, and was issued a no-contact order with all Delaware State Parks.
