College job-seekers: The good and bad of social media

DELMARVA.- It may be the day of love, but the Delaware Department of Justice wants you to be mindful of who you give your love to.

Romance scams have been on the rise, and they affect people of all age groups, especially older individuals.

Chief special investigator for the Department of Justice’s investor protections unit, Craig Weldon, said if you have an older loved one, making sure they don’t feel too lonely can mean the difference between falling victim to one of these scams.

“Now is the time to reach out to elderly loved ones,” Weldon said. “Let them know you’re there for them; let them know if they need your help, you’re there for them, and if they share something with you, don’t embarrass them. Help them as much as you can.”
